VENDING

Vending at the Fair

There are several opportunities to be a vendor at the Fair events, each with their own characteristics and requirements. If you’re not sure whether a specific vendor opportunity is right for you, contact us at the office, 907-766-2476 or jessie@seakfair.org to learn more.

Fair Food vendors are either in one of the food booths at our food court, or in at-large booths around the grounds. The Southeast Alaska State Fair prides itself in being a place for amazing, high quality, can’t-find-it-anywhere-else Fair Food. Because of this, we must approve the menus of all food vendors, and we have a non-compete clause to assure that our attendees get the best variety possible.

Our fee structure for Food Vending requires a small up-front booth rental payment, followed by 10% of your gross booth income during the Fair. This must be paid in full by the Friday following the Fair.

Fair Food Vending

Fair Food is consistently named by Fairgoers as one of their favorite parts of the Southeast Alaska State Fair. The Fair’s food court offers amazing quality and variety of Fair Cuisine.

We experience a high volume of Food Vendor applications each year, with only 20 concessions available. The demand for Southeast Alaska State Fair food vendor concessions, coupled with our commitment to keep the quality of Fair Food top-notch, means becoming a food vendor at the Fair is a competitive process. Application does not guarantee award of a food concession.

Selection criteria for new Food Vendors includes applicant experience; quality, viability, and value of menu; and date of application.

Because the Fair is a relatively small event, we have a non-compete clause on Food Vendor menu items. If your application is selected for consideration, we may be in touch to ask for menu amendments if you are proposing food items that are already being offered.

We have 16 full-service booths in the food court, and permit up to 5 mobile concessions (food truck or 10×10 canopy) some limitations apply.

Food Trucks

We can accommodate a limited number of Food Trucks or mobile booths on the Fairgrounds, but we’ll need to talk with you about dimensions and utility requirements.

Location of Food Trucks or other mobile booths will be determined by Fair staff based on a variety of factors, on a case by case basis.

Non Food Vending

Our Non-Food Vendors showcase everything from beautiful arts and crafts; to clothing, jewelry and personal care products;  to education about the work of specific businesses and non-profit organizations; to government outreach for key programs; to political causes and candidates; and so much more.

The Southeast Alaska State Fair is a vibrant marketplace for shopping and education. The Southeast Alaska State Fair is a great venue to show and sell your wares, and to share your ideas, products, and information with a diverse audience!

Vendor Policies

The vendor policies are currently under their annual review.  They will be available in January of 2024.

Zero Waste Fair

Beginning in 2016 the Fair partnered with Haines Friends of Recycling and with thanks to the efforts of their volunteer team, we have reduced waste from the Fair by more than 50%! Less than 300 pounds of garbage went to the dump in 2019; the rest was recycled or turned into compost.

Vendors are integral to this effort, and it is the Fair’s policy that all serviceware provided to the public – across the entire Fairgrounds during the event –  can be recycled or composted. Single use plastic merchandise bags are also not allowed on the Fairgrounds.

Recyclable and compostable goods can be purchased online, or through Haines Friends of Recycling. Contact Melissa Aronson at HFR to get the supplies you need: aronson@aptalaska.net

Vendor of the Year

The Southeast Alaska State Fair’s Vendor of the Year program rewards the vendors who personify the best of what the Fair is – excellent presentation, good neighborliness, excellent customer service, and fun! Vendor of the year is chosen by a panel of judges each year and presented at the end of the Fair. One food vendor, and one non-food vendor will be honored each year.
